The Chicago Bears played without their starting quarterback, Mitchell Trubisky, for the second straight week. Last week, backup quarterback Chase Daniel took over and was able to lead the Bears to a Thanksgiving Day win over the Detroit Lions. It was the team's eighth of the season and it strengthened their bid for the playoffs.

In Week 13, however, it is a different story for the 32-year-old signal caller. A couple of costly mistakes proved to be the game's deciding factor. His first pass of the game resulted in a pick-six by New York Giants linebacker Alec Ogletree.

To make things worse, he threw an interception while the Bears were deep in Giants territory. It could have been the drive that saved the game for them. But the Bears eventually dropped this one, 30-27.

After the game, Daniel stated in an interview with The Chicago Sun-Times that he let his team down.

“As an offense, especially as a quarterback, your No. 1 job is to take care of the football. And I didn’t do that today. I let my team down. I’ll be the first one to say that.”

Daniel was strong enough to admit his mistakes. He had the chance to lead the Bears to their ninth win of the season, but wasn't able to due to his mistakes.

In five games with the Bears this season, Daniel has thrown for 515 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions. His start last week was one the best he ever had in his career.

Daniel completed 73 percent of his passes for 230 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions in their 24-17 win against the Lions.

The Bears are still in the playoff picture despite this loss. They are 8-4 which is good for third place in the NFC.
