Before the Cincinnati Bengals began their bye week in Week 9, Zac Taylor decided to bench Andy Dalton in favor of rookie Ryan Finley at quarterback. While preparing for Sunday's game, Finley admits that he is nervous ahead of his NFL debut.

“Yeah, I would be worried if I wasn’t nervous because that would mean I didn’t care,” Finley explained to The Enquirer. “But I’m more excited than anything. I feel like it’s been a while since I played in a football game, and it has been, but it’ll be fun to get out there.”

The Bengals selected Finley with their fourth-round pick in this year's draft out of NC State. The first-year quarterback hasn't played in a game since the preseason. In addition, he hasn't started in a game since last December with North Carolina State.

In that game, Finley struggled with 139 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions as he lost to Texas A&M. Nevertheless, the Bengals are hoping that Finley doesn't struggle to that extent this Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens.

While Cincinnati is projected to lose, Finley is keeping his focus on executing in his first career start.

“My goal is to execute on every single play for the offense and stay on the field. I think we as a team need to be a lot better in the red zone and score points. That’s kind of an emphasis for us, scoring in the red zone,” Finley told The Enquirer. “I have all the confidence in the world in Zac to put us in the right situations. So, for me, I just think of the word executing. That’s just what keeps coming to me. Executing whatever is called and do my best to keep the chains moving, have a little bit of juice out there, some energy and get guys fired up and into a rhythm.”

The Bengals have yet to win a game this season. Therefore, the move to start Finley was warranted, but he will have to show that Taylor made the right move in Week 10.
