The Cincinnati Bengals and the Green Bay Packers duked it out during Sunday Night Football. Both teams were at 3-1 entering the game, and were looking to tack another W to bolster their hot start. In the end, the Bengals eventually collapsed in overtime 25 – 22, unable to get over the hump.

However, that game could've ended differently if not for an embarrassing mistake from Bengals kick Evan McPherson. With four minutes left in OT and the game tied, McPherson was up for a 49-yard field goal attempt. As the ball was flying through the air, the team celebrated… until they realized that McPherson missed. (via Jomboy Media)

McPherson celebrated a bit too early after launching that attempt, not realizing that he missed. Portland Trail Blazers guard Anfernee Simons, who was watching the game, noted how similar the Bengals kicker's situation was to another infamous moment in the NBA.

Simons was referring to this hilarious moment from former NBA player Nick Young. Similar to the Bengals' McPherson, Young attempted a field-goal and immediately celebrated, not realizing that his shot missed. It was an unfortunate moment that has since been ingrained into meme culture, and it clearly transcended it's original sport.

This missed field goal and failed celebration is the least of the Bengals' worries though. Star quarterback Joe Burrow was taken to the hospital after the game to get examined. Burrow  took a big hit in the second quarter, but returned and finished the game for the team. However, the team rushed him to get his throat checked for a possible contusion.

If the medical staff deems Burrow to be unfit to play for a period of time, that's going to bad news for the Bengals. The former first overall pick has been magnificent for their offense, helping them to their hot start this season. If he's unable to play, every other player needs to bring their A-game and avoid gaffes like what Evan McPherson did today.
