Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has certainly wowed plenty of his peers in the NFL over the past few months, including Los Angeles Rams passer Matthew Stafford.
Burrow has upped his game in the Bengals’ ongoing playoff run, which includes a pair of game-winning drives. For Stafford, there has been one aspect of Burrow’s play that he has been much impressed with, which he touched on during a press conference ahead of Super Bowl 56.
“He does a great job for a young player dissecting defense,” Stafford said.
Burrow sure has been efficient as a passer in his second campaign so far with the Bengals. Whether it has been completing crucial throws while on the run or capping off pivotal red zone drives with touchdowns, Burrow has continued to showcase his growing prowess in being an all-around passer.
Article Continues BelowStafford has watched a multitude of stout passers in the SEC, whether it was as a competitor during his run at Georgia or now as a fan. Among them, Stafford was much blown away by Burrow’s vast development over his run at LSU.
“I've been a fan of his since he was at LSU,” Stafford said. “Loved the way he played, love the way he competed there and that's just that nothing but carry over into this league.
“He's in this game because he's willed that team to a bunch of wins and that's impressive thing for a guy of his age.”
Plenty will be on the line for both passers in Super Bowl 56, as Stafford sure aims to bolster his Pro Football Hall of Fame resume with a Super Bowl win, while Burrow has his sights set on bringing a title to the city of Cincinnati.
