Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict has been talked about throughout the league for years normally because of his continuous suspensions, this time it's because of numerous concussions.

Burfict is an extremely talented player, but his refusal to play the game as it's meant to be played and his lack of respect for player safety appears to have backfired on him. Unfortunately for Burfict, a seventh concussion is extremely alarming and it's increasingly clear that he has a big decision to make going forward.

Many players over the years have been effected in a detrimental manner due to numerous concussions. Former players like Junior Seau and Jim McMahon suffered extreme effects from concussions throughout their careers and in Seau's case, it cost him his life. Burfict very well could end his career after his most recent concussion and nobody would blame the veteran linebacker.

Burfict has been one of Cincinnati's best defensive players in recent years, however, disciplinary matters and concussions have cost him a lot of time out on the field. Unfortunately, a lot of players don't know when to quit. Hopefully that's not the case here.

Former 49ers linebacker Chris Borland retired from football after one spectacular season due to injuries and while he cut his career short, it was the right move.

The game has a tough way of giving back to players in the sense they give their heart and soul to it. Burfict will likely have to swallow his pride and decide to forego furthering his career to avoid health issues later on if it's not too late.
