Cleveland Browns superstar receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is still getting the hang of catching passes from quarterback Baker Mayfield. Beckham Jr. is in his first training camp with the Browns and has been a member of the team for less than five months, but he can get used to playing with the former Oklahoma Sooner. He's excited to do so, as he told Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, “it's going to be scary” for defenses to cover himself after he and Mayfield get their timing down.
Beckham told Cabot.
“When you have a quarterback like Mayfield, you want to work with him.” Though, as he notes, jokingly, “I don't like being yelled at.”
Mayfield has done his fair share of yelling through training camp, as he's stepped up into the face of the franchise for the Browns. He's, as Mayfield says, “isn't going to be a jacka**,” but he will get on top of his receivers to continue progress as 2019 nears.
According to ESPN's Jake Trotter, Mayfield said the following.
“Those guys know that’s a big part of our offense [timing]. And they know that. It’s just the fact that if we get lazy and let things slide — we need to be open to communicating right now. That’s what the good teams do.”
Mayfield has earned lauding over his ability to win over a locker room. He's done just that and more in Cleveland. No matter if he's being harsh on his guys, asking for activeness in training camp, players, including Beckham Jr. like working for him.
