Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield dominated headlines with his stellar performance in the preseason opener versus the New York Giants. Of course, he had plenty of opportunities with Cleveland pulling quarterback Tyrod Taylor from the game after just two drives.

However, it appears the Browns will be more generous with his playing time. According to Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com, Taylor will see more action this week versus the Buffalo Bills:

Browns Tyrod Taylor will start vs. Bills and play more than 2 series. Then Baker, who will play a fair amount again. But Jackson also wants to see Drew Stanton

There is nothing uncommon about Cleveland wanting to play Taylor a bit more this week. The Browns have been adamant about his status as the starter ever since they acquired him and they have not swayed from that notion despite Mayfield's progress thus far. That said, it is safe to assume that the offense is far from a finished product and they are hoping to polish a few things up in the preseason.

Furthermore, the Browns could also be entertaining the fact that they will be squaring off the against the Bills. Taylor was admittedly disappointed with how things ended in Buffalo. Perhaps Cleveland is looking to give him a fair shot at a little retribution for the way his former team parted ways with him.

Regardless, there is no question that the Browns still have plenty of work to do on both sides of the ball if they are going to complete their turnaround this season. Meanwhile, it is safe to assume that Taylor will not be holding anything back on Friday.
