It has a grueling recovery process from shoulder surgery for Indianapolis Colt star quarterback Andrew Luck that has extended beyond a year. He has experienced numerous setbacks along the way that have further pushed the healing process well past the original timetable.

However, Luck appears to be finally hedging toward getting back on the filed at some point over this offseason. According to Zak Keefer of the Indy Star, there is a growing confidence and expectation that the 28-year-old will pick up his throwing regimen in the window of April and May.

In the last couple of months, Luck has begun to hedge in the right direction as he has begun throwing once again as he started tossing weighted balls around before getting to footballs. He has yet to experience any setbacks from that increased activity following a couple of months of being restricted from not throwing any ball.

The Colts have remained quite careful with the situation given that Luck had suffered a setback late last year due to nagging pain in his shoulder that led to rumors of potential additional surgery. The team has remained extremely optimistic about his outlook for the 2018 season, but there doesn't appear to be any added pressure or rush from the organization to get him back on the field before he has shown he is physically ready to do so.

Luck is still fully ingrained as being the long-term answer under for the Colts that has shown the ability to be one of the top quarterbacks in the league when healthy. With that in mind, this is what makes this upcoming escalation of his throwing regimen highly important to him finally getting back on the field. If he's able to get through this portion of the rehab process, there is no reason believe he won't be back in the fold well ahead of the 2018 campaign.
