Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett isn’t exactly the most popular person within the fanbase. After eight mostly underwhelming years with the franchise, there have been calls from people like Terrell Owens for the Cowboys to finally move on from him.

However, Garrett has at least one high-profile fan left in former Cowboys full-back and FOX NFL analyst Daryl Johnston. According to “Moose,” Garrett remains the Cowboys’ best option, and it would be “sabotage” if they got rid of him now.

“Jason Garrett, in my opinion, moving forward gives Dallas the best opportunity,” Johnston said on DFW’s Fox4, via the Dallas Morning News. They’ve got that window right now with a quarterback and a very talented running back on rookie contracts. To make a change right now, that would be sabotage to that organization. Keep everything in place, take a run with this window that’s there.”

Johnston’s take likely won’t be a popular one for the Cowboys fans who want Garrett out. Garrett doesn’t exactly have a great resume during his almost decade-long tenure in Dallas. He’s 67-53 in seven-plus seasons in charge of the Cowboys and has made the playoffs just twice during that span.

But despite that shaky track record and the fact that the Cowboys have question marks with their receiving options, Johnston believes that Garrett’s team will surprise some people this season. Given Garrett’s lack of success to date, though, he may have to come up with an unexpectedly strong campaign in order to save his job.
