Dez Bryant’s future with the Dallas Cowboys came into question recently following Cowboys vice-president Stephen Jones’ comments about the star wide receiver.

However, Stephen’s father and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has now weighed in on the issue. According to Drew Davison of the Star-Telegram, the elder Jones expects Bryant to be with the team next season since he still remains under contract with the team.

“Everybody that's got years left on their contract, I'm expecting them to be on this team,” said Jerry Jones.

Bryant is coming off yet another disappointing season in 2017. He had 69 receptions and just 838 receiving yards despite playing all 16 games. He didn’t even post a single 100-yard game and had more than 70 yards just three times all year.

Despite being one of the most highly-paid wide receivers in the league following three-straight 1,000-yard seasons, Bryant has now fallen short of 1,000 yards receiving in three-straight years. Although, he was limited to just nine games in 2015 due to injury. He still has two more years on his current deal, which is set to expire in 2019.

Even with Bryant underperforming over the last few years, it doesn’t seem as if Jerry Jones is in a rush to move on from his star receiver. Based on his comment, it looks like Jones is willing to see out Bryant’s current deal despite the subpar production.

But if Bryant’s play doesn’t significantly improve, Jones may eventually be forced not to offer another contract to keep the mercurial wideout around in Dallas.
