Amari Cooper has been at practice with the Dallas Cowboys, but apparently spent most of his time on the sidelines rather than on the field with his teammates. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the three-time Pro Bowler has been dealing with a heal strain that prevented him from taking part in practice.
Fortunately for the Cowboys, Cooper's injury doesn't appear to be serious. Dallas reportedly hasn't ruled him out for the remainder of the preseason, an indication it expects him to gain a clean bill of health sooner rather than later.
Cooper, health provided, will enter the regular season as Dallas' undisputed No. 1 target in the receiving game. The No. 4 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, the luster on his career was wearing off before a midseason trade from the Oakland Raiders to the Cowboys led to a stunning turnaround.

While he's taken a more passive approach to stalled contract talks than Elliott, Cooper no doubt still expects to be compensated like one of the best receivers in the league sooner rather than later.
