Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is setting a new bar for longevity with his continued excellence into his 40s. It’s something other quarterbacks like Packers QB Aaron Rodgers are hoping to emulate.

At just 24 years of age, Dak Prescott doesn’t need to start worrying about his football mortality just yet. But that hasn’t stopped the young Cowboys QB from trying to pick up the skill which has been a big factor in Brady’s amazing longevity.

“The reason Tom can play until he's 45 or whenever he wants is that he uses all of his body in his throws,” Prescott said per Todd Archer of ESPN. “It's not just his arm. Me being young, I can use my arm and get away with it. If you use the rest of your body, like the greats do, then you'll see the benefits.”

Prescott’s less than ideal throwing mechanics were picked apart during the draft process, which played a part in why he wasn’t considered a much higher prospect. To his credit, though, he’s managed to remain effective in the NFL despite this imperfection in his game, and he’s working hard to get better. Tom Brady is a tough benchmark to hit, but that’s what the great ones do.

It’ll obviously take a lot of time and effort for Prescott to get his mechanics up to Brady’s insanely high standard. Luckily, he still has time on his side to improve and develop that part of his game. Until then, he can make use of his youth and athleticism to provide him with a bit more room for error.
