Brandon Carr remains as one of the notable cornerbacks in free agency, but he may be drumming up interest as the season approaches. According to the NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Dallas Cowboys are have brought Carr in for a visit with the team.

Earlier this offseason, the Cowboys elected to let Byron Jones walk in free agency. Following his departure, Dallas was left with an unproven group of cornerbacks on the roster.

Carr, who's familiar with the Cowboys, having spent five years of his career with the franchise, can still contribute for a team at 34 years old. Throughout the past three seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, Carr has proven he can be a versatile defender for a defense.

Just a season ago, Carr produced 49 tackles, two sacks, and six pass breakups in 16 starts with the Ravens. That sort of versatility is something that the Cowboys could use this season.

On Thursday, Dallas surprisingly released Ha Ha Clinton-Dix less than six months after inking him to a one-year deal. By releasing him, they created an extra $1.5 million in cap space. And with a possible need in the secondary, the Cowboys could use that newfound money on a defensive back.

There's no doubt that Cowboys fans would prefer to see the franchise add Earl Thomas soon. While they could still pursue Thomas, Carr would be an intriguing addition to a secondary that presents a few questions marks.
