The Dallas Cowboys appear to have dodged a bullet with running back Mike Weber's injury appearing to not be that serious. Weber was taken in the seventh round by the Cowboys but suffered an injury during rookie minicamp. Weber felt knee discomfort while participating in practice and underwent an MRI.

According to Todd Archer of ESPN, Weber won't underdog surgery and the team hopes that rest and rehab will be enough to get him back on the field

Rookie running back Mike Weber will not have surgery at this time on a sore right knee that required an MRI after the Cowboys’ rookie minicamp over the weekend. The hope is rest and rehab will help but there is a possibility of needing a scope in the future if things do not improve. Weber left the Saturday morning practice early and watched the final workout that was open to the media in the afternoon.

This is good news for Weber and the Cowboys as he isn't a lock to make the roster and he needs to show as much as he can during practices and training camp.

It's unclear if he will be ready for the start of OTA's but it sounds like he should be ready by training camp.

There could be a setback and the team might consider surgery but right now it appears rest is going to be the best way to get back to 100 percent.

The Cowboys kick off mandatory minicamp on June 11th and it will last for three days.
