Following months of speculation surrounding his long-term future with the Dallas Cowboys, veteran wide receiver Dez Bryant was released by the team on Friday morning after eight seasons. This has pushed Bryant onto a new path of his NFL career away from the Cowboys on towards employment by way of another organization.

This appears to have been a difficult decision for Bryant to come to terms with given that he has spent all of his career in Dallas up to this point in time. However, the 29-year-old voiced on Friday that provides him a refreshing opportunity to dictate the next chapter ahead, according to Jane Slater of the NFL Network.

Bryant will have the opportunity to choose what he wants to do moving forward in his career in terms what kind of team he desires to join this offseason. There will be several franchises that will express their interest in adding him to the mix over the next couple of weeks prior to the upcoming draft later this month.

This is also a chance for Bryant to prove that he still has the ability to play at an elite level beyond what he has over the last few seasons. He has failed to record more than 70 catches or 1,000 receiving yards in each of the last three campaigns, which has fueled the notion that his best days may behind him.

Bryant is a proven talent that has plenty to offer a team as a legitimate red zone threat and a highly dependable asset in the passing game when given the opportunity to produce. Although there is interest to remain in the NFC East, he could look outside of the division to re-establish himself as one of the top wide receivers in the game.

There will be plenty of options ahead for Dez Bryant to potentially reignite his career.
