The Dallas Cowboys are bringing back a familiar face. According to Ron Phillips of dallascowboys.com, the team has agreed to a practice squad deal with veteran cornerback Brandon Carr.
Usually, Carr is not someone you would see on a practice squad. He has 12 years of NFL experience and will be 34 during the 2020 season.
However, new rules in place allowed this to happen with the Cowboys. Instead of just 10 practice squad spots, there are 16 in 2020. More importantly, there is no experience cut off. Anyone can be place on the practice squad.
For the Cowboys, that means they get some great emergency depth at cornerback.
Carr may not be the star he was during the prime of his career, but he has managed to remain productive all throughout his 12 years.
The cornerback is likely best known for his time with the Kansas City Chiefs. He spent the first four years of his career there and was an absolute superstar.

For the last three years though, Carr has been with the Baltimore Ravens. And in those three years, he's made quite a few plays to show he still brings plenty of value to an NFL team such as the Cowboys.
In his career, Carr has 702 tackles (17 for loss) and three sacks (two came in 2019). He also has 21 interceptions and a fantastic 138 pass deflections. Carr has two touchdowns in that time.
This is incredible depth for the Cowboys. Carr is not the cornerback he was back in the early 2010s. But he is a smart veteran player with an absolutely incredible resume. And he has proven over the last few years that he can still help a team win.
If the Cowboys end up calling on him to play in 2020, don't be surprised if he answers the call wonderfully.
