Nobody is entirely sure what the Dallas Cowboys are doing this offseason, especially after trading Amari Cooper. Regardless, they're in a decent spot to make some noise, but the front office hasn't done much to improve the roster. However, Jerry Jones opens up on the decision to trade Cooper.
According to Michael Gehlken, the decision to trade Amari Cooper was strictly a money-saving move. Jones claims the organization felt that the $22 million saved from trading Cooper that the “allocation should be better spent.” This response would make sense, but the Cowboys haven't done anything in free agency to warrant this response.

Another reason why Jerry Jones liked the decision to trade Amari Cooper is the draft compensation the franchise received, per Michael Gehlken. The Cowboys received a fifth-round pick as well as an upgraded pick in the sixth round. Fans aren't too happy with the compensation, but Jones seems content with how the trade transpired.

It'll be interesting to see how the Cowboys play next season. The front office hasn't done much to improve the roster, but we still have the NFL Draft coming up. Luckily for Dallas, they play in a questionable NFC East that has been a wide-open race for years. Even so, this team has the best roster on paper and is the favorite to clinch the division next season.
Keep an eye on the Cowboys, as Jerry Jones might have a trick or two up his sleeve for the draft. Hopefully, Dallas brings in solid talent as this franchise hopes to repeat as NFC East divisional champions.
