The Dallas Cowboys have undergone some serious changes to their personnel this offseason. However, the goal for the 2018 NFL season still largely remains the same.

Unfortunately, the Cowboys have already suffered their first casualty with the injury to defensive tackle Maliek Collins. According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, there is no timetable for Collins return from a broken foot:

Dallas selected Collins with the 67th overall pick in the 2016 NF:L Draft. Since then, the former Nebraska product has become a stalwart on the Cowboys defensive line over the past two seasons. Fortunately, he has had some experience with bouncing back from injury.

Collins had broken his foot prior to the 2016 campaign and even required surgery. However, he was still able to make it in time for the regular season and has started in 30 of 32 possible games for the Cowboys. During that time, he has registered 45 tackles, 7.5 sacks, and a forced fumble.

Although he has managed to come back strong from the injury before, there is still some concern about the uncertainty regarding his timetable. It goes without saying that Dallas has some major work to do on both sides of the ball f they are to meet their lofty expectations this year.

Having one of their key starters out indefinitely for the offseason certainly does not help their cause. However, it is one they must work through for the time being until Collins' return.
