The Dallas Cowboys have gotten a winning streak going with their victory over the Washington Redskins. Unfortunately, it appears they may still be a hit shorthanded this week without left tackle Tyron Smith.

Smith has been sidelined with lingering stingers recently. According to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk, he seems to be questionable for the Cowboys' matchup versus the New Orleans Saints:

It looks like pregame warmups may again determine Smith’s status this week. Smith sat out of practice for the second straight day on Tuesday, which doesn’t leave much time for him to practice before the Cowboys face the Saints this Thursday.

The update certainly deals a blow to the Cowboys' already-slim chances against the Saints this week. Furthermore, the fact that it is a recurring issue for Smith is a major cause for concern for Smith. To make matters worse, Dallas also revealed that an elbow injury contributed to his absence at practice. As a result, it appears Dallas will exercise with caution moving forward.

When healthy, Smith is undoubtedly one of the NFL's elite left tackles. He is a five-time Pro Bowler, two-time first-team All-Pro, and two-time second-team All-Pro. This makes him the anchor of one of the most talented offensive lines in the league. Unfortunately, they have been dealing with their fair share of the injury bug this year.

Smith's absence will continue to be missed despite the team's recent success. Fortunately, left tackle Cameron Flemming has been a viable replacement in his stead. Given the nature of the lackluster NFC East, the Cowboys would much rather have him healthy down the final stretch of the season.
