The Dallas Cowboys' build-up for the upcoming season continues as they recently kicked off their blue and white scrimmage on “Cowboys Night”. However, fourth-year veteran safety Xavier Woods left the session early after having sustained a minor groin injury.
NFL Network reporter Jane Slater tweeted the injury situation of Woods:

His absence will give fifth-year safety Darian Thompson, 2016 Pro Bowler HaHa Clinton-Dix, and sophomore player Donovan Wilson more opportunities to get first-team reps. Rookie Reggie Robinson also moved to safety from the cornerback position along with the newly-acquired veteran Daryl Worley.
Article Continues BelowThe Cowboys already suffered blows prior to the injury of Woods with cornerback Chidobe Awuzie and Jourdan Lewis being sidelined for a leg and ankle injury, respectively.
Despite many players from Dallas' secondary having contracted the injury bug, the team came prepared as they previously brought in several young talents during the offseason. Rookie cornerbacks Trevon Diggs and Reggie Robinson II were among the team's defensive hauls from the recently-concluded 2020 NFL Draft. Former XFL cornerback Saivion Smith was also recently added to the team's training camp roster.
The Cowboys retained veteran holdovers as well by re-signing veteran cornerbacks Anthony Brown and C.J. Goodwin during the offseason. With starting safety Xavier Woods out for the time being, a lot of players could fill in and grab more reps in lieu of his absence.
With the injury being of minor severity, there is growing optimism that the Louisiana Tech product will be back on the field by Week 1 for Dallas against the Los Angeles Chargers.
