Dallas Cowboys safety Xavier Woods recently missed several of the team's practices due to a nagging groin injury. With only a few days heading into their opening game against the Los Angeles Rams, team owner Jerry Jones disclosed whether he thinks the fourth-year veteran is ready for their September 13 start date.
“Yes I do. Yes. Everything is on go,” Jones said, via the team’s website. “It would be really a surprise if he didn’t get out there Sunday night. I think he got a good checkup yesterday and should be moving around out there this week.”
Woods' continued absence was a big hit to the Cowboys' secondary especially after the team recently released HaHa Clinton-Dix. He was a major contributor to the team ever since he was drafted back in 2017. Serving as Woods' second-string alternate would be rookie Reggie Robinson.

The entire Cowboys' defensive rotation drastically improved due to the front office's offseason acquisitions. Several veteran players were tapped to make an immediate impact on the team namely nose tackle Dontari Poe, returning player Aldon Smith, reinstated Randy Gregory, and defensive end Everson Griffen.
A healthy and reloaded Cowboys defensive unit should spell trouble for the rest of the league as the team aims to reach the Super Bowl stage in 2020.
