The Denver Broncos could be without a key piece of their secondary, at least for a game or two.

As many of you know, Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib accidentally shot himself in the leg back in June. Even though he won't face criminal charges, there's still a chance that the NFL will discipline him for the accident.

From Arnie Stapleton of The Associated Press:

Even if he faces no legal consequences, Talib could still be suspended or fined by the NFL, which doesn't require criminal charges or a conviction to mete out player punishment.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told The Associated Press on Wednesday that Talib's case “is under review of the personal conduct policy.”

According to the report, Talib told police that he couldn't recollect details of the shooting because he was intoxicated that evening. He only required stitches for the injury, but it forced him to miss Denver's trip to the White House.

It certainly hasn't hampered Talib's production on the field. He recorded the ninth pick-six of his career in Week 2, and he added two more interceptions this past Sunday against his old team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

There's a chance Talib will merely be fined, but if he is suspended, it likely won't be for more than couple games.
