The Denver Broncos continue to look for their future franchise quarterback after witnessing a less than stellar campaign from Drew Lock in the 2020 season. In search of greener pastures, the Broncos are reportedly throwing their name in the Deshaun Watson sweepstakes in the event that the Houston Texans make him available for trade, via Troy Renck.

As mentioned earlier, Lock didn't do well enough to earn the trust of the team's decision-makers when he was instated as the team's QB1. He underwhelmed as he only recorded 2,933 yards along with 16 touchdowns through 13 appearances in the 2020 season. With the quarterback's woes along with a shorthanded lineup, the Broncos couldn't do any better than a 5-11 record to settle for the fourth spot in the AFC West.

On the other hand, Watson is also trying his best to bounce out of the Texans' camp heading to next season. Even though the team insists that they want to keep Watson at the helm, their actions certainly say otherwise. Now, it seems like the relationship between the two sides is irreparable which implies that a trade for Watson could be the best option moving forward.

Despite the reluctance coming from team owner Cal McNair's party, the Broncos must still shoot their shot and offer a package if they truly want to land Watson, instead of merely waiting for the Texans to make their next move. Maybe a package of Lock along with a couple of high picks could change the mind of the Texans and lure them to agree to a blockbuster trade.
