Thursday night was the first chance to see Denver Broncos quarterback Drew Lock to show himself on the NFL field, and it didn't go well. A few times he had deep passes that he missed, and at times he looked lost, and it seemed at times the game was too fast for him.

Lock did finish the game completing seven of his 11 passes, and after the game, he really tried to keep it all in perspective, via the team's website.

“I’ll rate it as a learning game,” Lock said following the game. “There’s definitely things I’ll learn there, but I’m excited that I’m sitting here and that was the first time ever stepping out on the field.”

As Lock points out, that game wasn't the Super Bowl; it was just the first preseason game and a good learning experience.

“It was the Hall of Fame game. It wasn’t the Super Bowl, it wasn’t the playoffs — so there’s a lot of things for me to learn, a lot of things for me to look forward to, to progress a little bit.”

Broncos coach Vic Fangio admitted after the game that he was looking for a little more from Lock and he needs Lock to take steps forwards the next four games.

“I was hoping for more, but [I’m] not surprised,” Fangio said. “He’s still got a lot of work to do. I thought his accuracy wasn’t clean all the time along with his reads, but that’s to be expected. We’ve got four more games and we’ve got to get him ready — more ready than he is right now.”

The pressure is going to be on Lock the rest of the preseason to look better and move forward with his game.
