According to a recent report from Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, the Denver Broncos could be without a potentially key offensive lineman for quite some time. Rapoport is reporting that Broncos center Nico Falah most likely suffered a torn Achilles tendon and will miss the entire 2019 campaign if tests confirm the injury.
“Broncos offensive lineman Nico Falah, who went down at practice today, is suspected to have torn his Achilles, source said,” Rapoport tweeted on Monday. “He’s awaiting imaging results. If tests confirm, it knocks the reserve, who spent time on the 53-man last year, out for the season.”
However, the Broncos and first-year head coach Vic Fangio have yet to formally announce such a setback for Falah.
“We were doing a conditioning drill over there, and he went down. I’m not sure,” Fangio told reporters after practice, via NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk.
The Broncos are looking to rebound in a major way under the direction of Fangio, who just last year helped lead the Chicago Bears out of the cellar of the NFC North division en route to a postseason berth as an assistant coach. Now leading his own franchise, Fangio and the Broncos will be forced to compete against the always dangerous Los Angeles Chargers and surging Kansas City Chiefs. Even the Oakland Raiders improved significantly this offseason while the AFC West has quickly become one of the best divisions in all of football.
With a veteran signal caller in Joe Flacco now under center, the Broncos could surprise some folks in 2019.
