Denver Broncos pass rusher Von Miller has tested positive for coronavirus, but the perennial Pro Bowler insists that he took all of the preventative measures necessary before contracting it.
“What keeps me at peace is knowing I did everything I was supposed to do,” Miller said on ESPN's NFL Live on Friday. “I was here at home — I’ve been here at home for about a month now and I’ve probably left the house a total of four times. When I left, I didn’t get out the car or anything like that, I didn’t have any contact. I was just riding with my brother up the street to get some food. I literally took it seriously, wasn’t out and about. It hit me right here in my house. It’s very, very serious and it’s my job to keep my body in tip-top shape. I feel like I am in tip-top shape. And if I can get this, anybody can get this.”
Miller added that he had “fish tank guys” and “a plumber” at his house recently, so it's impossible to say exactly where he got the virus from.
“It’s just too many different factors,” said Miller.
The 31-year-old is coming off of a 2019 campaign in which he played 15 games and registered 46 tackles and eight sacks. In spite of it being Miller's least productive season since 2013, when he appeared in just nine contests due to a suspension, he still made the Pro Bowl.
Miller entered the NFL as a No. 2 overall pick of the Broncos back in 2011.
Since then, he has made the Pro Bowl every year, including three First-Team All-Pro selections. Miller also helped lead a dominant Denver defense to a Super Bowl title during the 2015-16 campaign.
The Broncos went 7-9 this past year.
