The man sure does work quickly when he's looking for work. Perhaps it's that Stanford education at play.

The night after he dined with San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan, former Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman has scheduled a meeting for next week with the Detroit Lions, per Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network.

The Lions meeting comes as a surprise. Not many saw the city of Detroit as a viable option for Sherman and in fact, it still may not be.

Sherman, 30, is a California native. He attended Stanford. He's basically lived on the west coast his entire life.

After dining with Shanahan on Friday night and meeting with the 49ers organization on Saturday (with contract discussions in the works as well, per Adam Schefter of ESPN), the general consensus is that Sherman will sign on with the team he's most butted-heads with during his seven-year NFL career.

Now that a meeting is officially scheduled, anything's on the table for the future Hall of Fame cover-corner. Remember though, this is a smart guy as his Stanford status backs up. Perhaps the Detroit meeting is a bargaining chip wisely stuffed in his back pocket.

Corners on the Lions roster include Darius Slay, Jalen Tabor, Jamal Agnew and Quandre Diggs. Both Nevin Lawson—who started 15 games in 2017—and veteran D.J. Hayden are free agents.

In seven seasons in the Great Northwest, Richard Sherman's accolades include a Vince Lombardi Trophy, two NFC Championships, four Pro Bowl nods and three First Team All-Pro selections.
