It has been nothing short of a rollercoaster type season for the Miami Dolphins with their playoff aspirations hanging on a tread heading into the final two weeks of the season.
This uphill battle to get back into serious postseason contention may have gotten a bit more difficult with tight end Julius Thomas being moved to the season-ending IR due to a foot injury, according to NFL.com.
The Dolphins had at times an anemic offense this season ranking 26th overall with 17.6 points per game. Much of this has come from the inconsistent play of former Pro Bowl quarterback Jay Cutler in his first season with the team.
It wraps up Thomas' first campaign in Miami where he posted 41 catches on 63 targets for 388 receiving yards and three touchdowns in 14 games played. His production fluctuated throughout the season recording more than 50 receiving yards just three times while notching 30 or fewer receiving yards in each other contest.
His absence will likely place a greater importance on depending more greatly the receiving core led by Jarvis Landry, Kenny Stills, and DeVante Parker. Keep in mind, Thomas is currently fourth on the team in receptions and targets.
