Since suffering a torn ACL and LCL last December, Philadelphia Eagles star quarterback Carson Wentz has been a steady path to recovery. He has continued to ramp up his workload in his rehab process that has given much hope that he will be ready in time for the 2018 season opener.

Wentz has stayed on a constant path of passing minor milestones along the way in mending from the major injury.  There is now even more reason for optimism about the health of his knee as the 25-year-old posted a video via Instagram showing himself throwing footballs with a brace on his left knee.

This is another encouraging sign that Wentz is progressing toward being able to take the field at some point during the offseason. Keep in mind, he is dealing with an injury that takes up nine months to a year to fully heal. The fact that he has been able to throw with a brace on while applying weight pressure to the area shows that he is moving along quite well toward his goal.

At the same time, there is no rush from the Eagles given that the team has a strong backup plan with reigning Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles still on the roster. Foles has shown that he is fully capable of filling in for Wentz if needed and could do so once again next season if any reason the Pro Bowler is unable to get back on the field for his target time frame.

The third-year quarterback is coming off what could have been an MVP season that saw him lead the NFL with a franchise record 33 touchdowns passes to just seven interceptions while holding a 101.9 passer rating and throw for 3,296 yards in 13 games played. There is no reason for the organization to believe that can't recapture that form next season while leading the team back to the Super Bowl. That said, the progress in his recovery is promising but there is no internal pressure to push back him into the fold sooner than necessary given his importance to franchise's future.
