The 8-3 Green Bay Packers will host the 3-7-1 Philadelphia Eagles at Lambeau Field in Week 13 in what should be a pretty one-sided affair. The Packers are one of the best teams in the NFL, while the Eagles are one of the most dysfunctional clubs in the league.
Green Bay easily defeated the Chicago Bears in Week 12 by a final score of 41-25. All signs point toward the Packers winning the NFC North for the second straight season and going on a deep playoff run with superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers leading the way.
The Eagles, meanwhile, are a walking disaster. They lost to the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football in Week 12 and gunslinger Carson Wentz continues to look lost on the field. Philadelphia fans are completely on board with benching Wentz for rookie Jalen Hurts, but it doesn't appear that Eagles head coach Doug Pederson is ready to do that even though Wentz has been putrid all season long.
With the Packers and Eagles set to kick off soon, let's take a look at four bold predictions for the contest from a Green Bay point of view.
1. Aaron Rodgers throws four touchdowns
Aaron Rodgers is putting up tremendous numbers this season for the Packers. Through 11 games, the former MVP has thrown for 3,100 yards and 33 touchdowns. Rodgers, who is completing 68.5 percent of his passes, only has four interceptions on the season. He continues to prove that age is just a number. Rodgers is 37 but still one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
Against the Eagles, who are giving up 25.2 points per game, we have Rodgers shredding them for four passing touchdowns. While Philadelphia has a pretty good defensive unit, Rodgers is playing out of this world right now. Nothing seems to faze the one-time Super Bowl champion, as he's making the quarterback position look really easy.
In five career games against the Eagles, Rodgers is 3-2. He's thrown nine touchdown passes and three picks while racking up 1,278 passing yards. Rodgers' fantasy owners, who have been enjoying success all season, are in for another stellar day in Week 13.
2. Davante Adams catches three touchdowns
A few weeks ago when Davante Adams said he's the best wideout in the NFL, some pundits were questioning the 27-year-old's comments. Fast forward to today and everyone recognizes why Adams said that statement.
In nine games this season, Adams has 74 receptions for 908 yards and 11 touchdowns. There is no doubt he is one of the top–if not the top–wide receivers in the league. He's racked up over 100 yards four times this season and caught a touchdown pass from Rodgers in five straight games.
The Eagles, particularly Darius Slay, struggled against Seahawks star D.K. Metcalf in Week 12. With that being said, we have Adams going off for three touchdowns versus Philadelphia and helping the Packers' offense torch the Eagles' secondary.
Adams, who has faced the Eagles three times before, has caught 17 balls for 306 yards and three touchdowns. Look for the playmaker and Rodgers to have a magnificent performance in Week 13 against a reeling Eagles team.
3. Packers pick off Carson Wentz twice
As we mentioned earlier, Eagles signal-caller Carson Wentz is having an awful season. He's thrown 15 interceptions and is only completing 58.1 percent of his passes. There have only been two games this season where Wentz didn't throw an interception for the Eagles. It's unclear what happened to the former No. 2 overall pick, but this is certainly not the same Wentz who was in the MVP conversation a few years ago.
Against the Packers, we have Wentz throwing two interceptions to give him 17 on the season. Green Bay's defense picked off Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky two times in Week 12, so they are on a nice roll right now.
Overall, the Packers have seven interceptions on the season and forced a turnover in all but three games.
The Eagles could play Jalen Hurts a little more than they did in Week 12 against the Seahawks, but Wentz is going to be the main guy under center, which is good news for the Packers since he has been a turnover machine in 2020.
4. Packers defeat Eagles, improve to 9-3
We have the Packers easily defeating the Eagles in Week 13 at home to improve to an impressive 9-3 on the season. The offense, with Rodgers and Adams leading the way, is clicking on all cylinders at the moment. There's just no way the Eagles' defense is going to have any success versus Green Bay's high-powered offense.
The Packers lost to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game last season. Rodgers, one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history, has only won one Super Bowl in his career. This is the perfect season for Green Bay to win the NFC and get back to the Super Bowl since Drew Brees is hurt for the New Orleans Saints and the Seahawks have been very up and down.
