The Green Bay Packers missed the playoffs in each of the last two seasons coming into 2019. It was apparent that the front office was not having any of that this year. They fired head coach Mike McCarthy and replaced him with Matt LaFleur. Then, they went out in free agency and spent big money to improve their defense. Brian Gutekunst and company were not playing around.
Coming into this week's matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, the Packers are 8-2 and are a legitimate Super Bowl contender. San Francisco, on the other hand, sits at 9-1 atop the NFC.
Needless to say, this game is one that fans will want to watch. Both teams could end up hoisting the Lombardi Trophy at the end of the year. This game could end up deciding who wins the conference at the end of the year.
All of that being said, let's dive in and take a look at three bold predictions for the Packers on the offensive side of the football.
Aaron Jones Breaks Out for 130 Total Yards, Three More Touchdowns
Let's go ahead and start this with a very bold prediction for rising star running back Aaron Jones. In his third year, he has become of the league's most potent scorers with 11 touchdowns on the ground and three as a receiver. Jones is going to add another three to his resumé this week, along with 130 total yards.
Green Bay will have to get creative this week against a tough 49ers defense. LaFleur will look to establish Jones early on the ground, then will try to get the running back in open-space as much as possible. The “other” Aaron will rise to the occasion with a big-time performance on Sunday night.
The Packers Only Allow Two Sacks
Coming into this matchup, one of the biggest keys for the Packers will be keeping Rodgers on his feet. San Francisco currently leads the NFL in sacks (alongside the Carolina Panthers) with 39. Nick Bosa and a much-improved pass-rush are going to do everything they can to get after Rodgers and force the football out of his hands.
Article Continues BelowThe Packers are going to find a way to keep No. 12 upright for the majority of the game. They will end up allowing two sacks. That number will be an impressive feat and will give the offense a good chance to get going.
Aaron Rodgers Racks Up 275 Yards, Two Touchdowns, No Picks
While those numbers may not look amazing, they are going to be impressive against a defense like San Francisco. Rodgers has been playing at an MVP-caliber level this season and has entirely bought into the LaFleur offensive scheme. The 49ers have a great defense, but Rodgers, as he has done throughout his career, will find ways to exploit it.
When everything is said and done, Rodgers will have 275 passing yards, two touchdowns, and will not throw an interception. Taking care of the football is a must against San Francisco. Rodgers is one of the best in the business at avoiding turnovers, and he will do so again this week.
Green Bay's Offense Powers Them To A Big Win
Finally, the Packers are going to come away with a big-time win over the top team in the NFC. LaFleur and his coaching staff know just how big this game could end up being at the end of the season. Getting the top seed in the NFC would be a major advantage for Green Bay.
San Francisco is going to put up a tough fight, and this game should come down to the latter stages of the fourth quarter. However, the Packers are going to find a way to come out with the win, and the offense will put up big-time numbers to make that happen.
