Fox Sports personality Colin Cowherd isn't too sure what the hype is all about when it comes to the Green Bay Packers coaching vacancy.
The Packers are officially searching for a new coach after firing Mike McCarthy last weekend following a head-scratching 20-17 home loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
Since the firing, there has been plenty of speculation as to who could take over and essentially hit the jackpot by having someone like Aaron Rodgers under center.
However, Cowherd seems to be of the opinion that the Green Bay job isn't an elite one.
Here's what Cowherd had to say recently about the Packers' vacancy and what the expectations are surrounding the organization:
“I don't think it's a great job. You don't get free agents… The quarterback is now making $33 million, a pretty young roster and the expectation will be you should be in the NFC Championship Game.”
He also went to discuss the power that Rodgers has within the franchise and the effect that it may be having on the makeup of the team:
“This is an unhealthy relationship between iconic quarterback and an owner-less organization. They ran off an outside linebacker coach because of an innocuous tweet. Weak.”
Well, at least we know that Cowherd won't be getting hired by the Packers anytime soon.
But in all seriousness, having Rodgers at quarterback is going to be quite a draw for a lot of coaching candidates, and now it's a matter of seeing who the Packers front office believes is the right fit moving forward.
