For the first time since 2005, the Green Bay Packers are entering a season without Mike McCarthy as head coach.
Now, Matt LaFleur is at the helm, a young, bright offensive mind that spent a year working under Sean McVay with the Los Angeles Rams in 2017.
As a result, there is a whole lot of buzz about what LaFleur can do for Aaron Rodgers and the Packers' offense, and wide receiver Davante Adams is loving what he is seeing thus far.
“It's an electrifying offense,” Adams said on The Jim Rome Show. “A lot of big-play potential. Just based off the offenses that [LaFleur] has been a part of before, whether they had top-tier talent or otherwise, you've seen them be able to make plays all over the field. Obviously, the guys that we have, the quarterback that we have, the running backs we have, we have some special players.”
Adams adds that learning from LaFleur has been a good time.
“It's been great,” Adams said. “It's kind of like being a rookie year for us. We're used to being more comfortable in an offense that we're familiar with. [LaFleur's] got a totally different way of the way he leads. So we are all getting to know each other and figure this thing out together. It's been real fun.”
Adams is coming off of a monster 2018 campaign in which he hauled in 111 receptions for 1,386 yards and 13 touchdowns en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.
The 26-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Fresno State, was originally selected by Green Bay in the second round (53rd pick overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft.
