The Green Bay Packers have had a tough 2018 NFL season thus far and are practically done as far as the playoff race is concerned. There is still an unlikely chance that they could make the postseason, but it would take a couple different miracles to make that happen.

Unfortunately, the Packers have been forced to place two players on injured reserve. Both of their seasons have come to a premature end.

According to a report from the Packers via Pro Football Talk, Green Bay has placed both Kevin King and Tra Carson on injured reserve.

King, who was the Packers' 2017 second-round pick, has been one of the bigger disappointments this season. He was expected to develop into a legitimate shutdown corner for the Packers, but injuries have been setting his career back in each of his first two NFL seasons.

Carson, on the other hand, is not as big of a loss for the Packers. He was simply a depth piece. Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams are the only running backs on the roster that are going to be receiving touches, barring injury.

Green Bay has a very young secondary with loads of talent. Jaire Alexander and Josh Jackson have moved into the starting lineup for the Packers, but both players are in their rookie seasons. New general manager Brian Gutekunst drafted both players to join King in a revamped secondary.

Hopefully, King is able to get back to full health and come back with a strong 2019 season for the Packers. If he doesn't, the team may have to begin considering other long-term options.
