Who didn't see this one coming? The Green Bay Packers have all but confirmed that Nick Perry won't be coming back for another season with the team.

According to CBS Sports, the latest news is that the Packers are unwilling to pay for Perry's $4.8 million roster bonus. If that happens, and he doesn't receive his bonus, one of three things could happen: his contract will either be restructured, he'll be traded, or he'll simply be released.

Before this happened, Perry told CBS about his hopes with the team.

“Look, I treat every year as a year to compete and be a team player. To the powers that be that have control over the situations, that’s out of my deal. If Gutey (general manager Brian Gutekunst) and everybody else wants me to be back, I’ll be back. I’m not concerned. My conscience is clear. I’m moving forward in the right direction. Yeah, we’re going to keep rolling.”

The Green Bay Packers selected Nick Perry in the first round (28th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft. Perry was the fourth linebacker drafted in 2012. On May 12, 2012 the Green Bay Packers signed Perry to a four-year, $7.5 million contract that included a signing bonus of $4 million. On November 24, 2018, the Green Bay Packers placed Perry on injured reserve due to a knee injury. He played in nine games in 2018, recording 24 tackles and 1.5 sacks.

But Nick Perry's biggest problem is that Mike McCarthy — who had supported his career — was fired as a result of the team's terrible performance last season.

It will be interesting to see if Perry is able to stay with the team that started it all for him.
