The Green Bay Packers suffered their seventh loss of the season this past Sunday, when they fell prey to the Arizona Cardinals at Lambeau Field, 20-17.. The Packers were heavily favored to win this game and unfortunately, now former head coach Mike McCarthy lost his job immediately after the game.
This was a move a lot of people saw coming as it was seemingly easier to move on from McCarthy when the Packers have arguably one of the most talented quarterbacks ever to play the position. According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Packers CEO Mark Murphy told reporters, “Aaron is free to provide input, but he won’t be part of the process.” Although it may be in the team's best interest to involve their prized quarterback a bit in the search for a head coach.

The firing of quarterbacks coach as well as the loss of wide receiver Jordy Nelson prior to the start of the season certainly left Rodgers with a bad taste in his mouth as he was not consulted on either decision.
McCarthy was fantastic for the Packers in his 13 years with the team. However, the team has not been the same this season, and it has become increasingly evident that things were not right between Rodgers and McCarthy anymore. Rodgers reportedly did not care for the play calling as well as decision-making in situations throughout the season. McCarthy most likely won't be unemployed very long due to his success with the Packers for over a decade.
