The Green Bay Packers are facing a world of uncertainty with franchise quarterback Aaron Rodgers. They'll look to avoid the same with their other star in wide receiver Davante Adams.
According to the latest report from NFL insider Ian Rapoport, talks between Davante Adams and the Packers have gone nowhere during the season.
Via Ian Rapoport:
Sources say after the Packers and Adams broke off big-money extension talks in late July, there have been no talks whatsoever about a new deal. Adams hasn't brought it up. Neither has Green Bay.
With Adams' long-term future in limbo, the Packers are reportedly expected to slap the franchise tag on him as a stopgap as they try to hammer out a deal that keeps him in Green Bay.
All of which sets the stage for what several sources believe is an eventuality: The Packers give Adams the franchise tag following the season before attempting to work out a long-term deal. Based off Adams' current salary situation, the franchise tag is expected to be about $20 million.
The Packers, unsurprisingly, have a pretty clogged salary cap situation. However, reports also state that they won't let that get in the way of trying to lock up Adams.
