The Denver Broncos have scored… in free agency.

Monday ultimately turned out to be a tough day for fans of the Houston Texans. Hours after losing veteran safety Tyrann Mathieu to the Kansas City Chiefs, it appears as though the Texans defensive backfield has taken yet another hit.

According to a Monday evening report from Mike Klis of 9 News in Denver, the Denver Broncos have come to terms with Texans safety Kareem Jackson. As a result of the newly inked pact, Jackson will now remain in Denver for at least the next three seasons.

Adding to the trimuph of Monday, the Texans were not shy about the team's intentions to retain both Mathieu and Jackson this offseason. Of course, neither ultimately stayed in Houston.

“Kareem had a really good year for us, also,” Texans head coach Bill O'Brien said earlier this offseason, via ESPN. “Again, he's a versatile player. He's a guy that has leadership qualities. He's been with us since the day I walked in here. He's an original Texan, was drafted as a Texan and has had a good career here.”

Leading to the interest in him on the open market, Jackson is notably coming off of his best single-season effort as a NFL safety. In what would become his final go-round in Houston, Jackson finished the 2018-19 campaign with a single-season career-high 87 total tackles and an impressive 17 pass defenses.

The Texans did manage to win the AFC South last season, though the team will need to replenish its roster in a hurry if Houston expects to return to the playoffs next season.
