Even after mutually agreeing to part ways with the Houston Texans, veteran defensive end J.J. Watt still received an outpour of support coming from fans all over the league. He reportedly received a bevy of $99 donations to his Watt Foundation and jokingly said that the efforts were an attempt by the fans to bribe him to play for their respective cities next season.

Watt finally broke his silence and expressed his desires to suit up for another team next season amid the Texans' ongoing rift with quarterback Deshaun Watson. The Wisconsin native is concluding 10 seasons of playing in Houston from 2011 to 2020.

During his time with the team, he has successfully emerged as one of the best defensive players that the league has seen in the past decade. Watt bagged three NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards, five First-team All-Pro selections, and five Pro Bowl appearances.

The 31-year-old veteran finished the 2020 season with tallies of 52 tackles, 5.0 sacks, and two forced fumbles in 16 games played. His efforts went down the drain as the Texans notched a 4-12 season to nab the third seed in the AFC South.

After announcing his departure from the Texans, Watt immediately garnered significant interest from several teams. According to ESPN‘s Ed Werder, the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, Buffalo Bills, and the Tennessee Titans are all expected to make a push to acquire him heading to next season.

J.J. Watt currently has one more year left in his contract signed back in 2014. He is reportedly set to earn an unguaranteed salary of $17.5 million in 2021 and will be free to sign with any team in the coming offseason.
