Houston Texans star defensive lineman J.J. Watt was finally able to return to the field in 2018 after missing nearly two full seasons due to back and leg injuries in 2016 and 2017, which makes you wonder just how much time he has left.

He is just 30 years old, but football takes a toll on one's body, as Watt now knows better than anyone else.

But Watt is putting a positive spin on things, saying that he actually got two years of rest.

“I don’t want to leave the game any time soon,” Watt said, according to Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com. “I love it. Hopefully, we can say that I had two less years of pounding on my body, I had two less years of wear and tear, so that means two more years on the back end.”

Watt remains one of the best defensive players in the NFL, as he is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he racked up 61 tackles, 16 sacks, seven forced fumbles, and four passes defended en route to a Pro Bowl appearance and First-Team All-Pro honors, so it seems safe to say that he did not miss a beat.

“I feel good right now,” added Watt. “I’m excited about the season ahead. I’m excited about the team that we’ve got and the guys that we’ve got. I love it. I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. I get to go around and chase a ball for a living and they pay me to do it. I couldn’t be any luckier.”

A first-round pick of the Texans back in 2011, Watt has made five Pro Bowls while notching First-Team All-Pro honors five times throughout his career and has led the NFL in sacks twice.
