Houston Texans Pro Bowl defensive end JJ Watt has once again been bitten by the injury bug. The oft-injured yet prolific pass rusher suffered a torn pectoral muscle on Sunday afternoon against the Oakland Raiders. He will be forced to miss the remainder of the 2019 campaign after undergoing surgery to repair the damage.

Now out of surgery and on the road to recovery, Watt has released his first statement since suffering the significant setback in Week 8 against the aforementioned Raiders. Per usual, Watt couldn't be in better spirits despite yet again receiving some devastating injury-related news.

Upon notifying the football world that he would be missing yet another lenghty stretch of games due to a serious injury, this time a torn pectoral muscle, Watt originally released the following statement via social media.

“This game can be beautiful and it can also be brutal,” Watt wrote. “Absolutely gutted that I won’t be able to finish the season with my guys and give the fans what they deserve. I truly love this game and can’t stand letting you guys down. Thank you for all of the thoughts & well-wishes.”

Although Houston will be forced to trudge forward without the services of the All-Pro Watt, the Texans remain in prime position to reach the postseason. With the AFC South franchise currently owning one of the two AFC wild card spots as it stands today, the Texans are also just a half game back of the first place Indianapolis Colts in the divisional standings.
