The relationship between the Houston Texans and quarterback Deshaun Watson has already reached its boiling point as of late. According to Josina Anderson, an unnamed AFC executive deemed that it would be best for the three-time Pro Bowler to sit out the entire 2021 NFL season until he lands in a desirable situation away from the Texans.

Watson was initially disgruntled by how the team maneuvered in the offseason, especially after coming off a losing season with a 4-12 record. Texans team owner Cal McNair promised that his franchise quarterback would be involved and would have a say in their search for a new head coach and general manager.

However, McNair blindsided Watson with his recent hiring of longtime New England Patriots executive Nick Caseiro as the team's new general manager. McNair also neglected Watson's desire to have Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy to be interviewed for the vacant head coach position.

After a few weeks, the Texans eventually held a meeting with Bieniemy but the team ended up hiring David Culley. The newly-hired tactician wore many hats during his two-year stint with the Baltimore Ravens where he served as the team's assistant head coach, wide receivers coach, and passing game coordinator.

The tumultuous series of events eventually led the 25-year-old gunslinger to officially request a trade from the Texans. However, the team is still reluctant to grant him his wishes and continues to hope that they will get to repair their broken relationship heading to the 2021 NFL season.

As it stands today, the Texans are still not willing to let their quarterback go despite all the occurrences that have transpired over the past few months. The coming weeks will see whether or not Deshaun Watson will suit up for the Texans for the upcoming season.
