The Houston Texans have been making headlines for the wrong reasons as star quarterback Deshaun Watson has grown unhappy with the organization.

However, the Texans are still searching for a head coach and are the last team remaining with a vacancy for the main job.

The candidates are aplenty for the Texans, and it turns out the franchise completed an interview with a former player, Josh McCown—who last played quarterback in a 2019 playoff game, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Yes, Josh McCown, former NFL quarterback not more than two years removed from a playoff game for the Philadelphia Eagles.

McCown actually signed with the Texans back in Nov. 2020, so interviewing a guy not even months removed from the league might be surprising, but surely the Texans will surround him with talent.

McCown might be a fantastic head coach, and as the candidates start to dwindle, the search gets harder and harder for Houston—especially with their ongoing drama with Watson.

However, the Texans' job has quickly gone from bad to worse due to the current situation with their franchise quarterback.

Hiring a guy like McCown might not be a terrible idea, as the journeyman quarterback has a tremendous amount of experience playing and mentoring guys as well.

The Texans also reportedly had their eyes on Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bienemy, but Bienemy and Kansas City are gearing up for another potential trip to the Super Bowl. The team also just completed an interview with Jim Caldwell for the head coaching position.

As the situation in Houston is shaky regarding Watson, the Texans need to find a head coach, and hiring McCown just might work out for a franchise that doesn't have much to lose as it is.
