Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt's fandom for the UFC has been well-documented through the years. As a result, there has always been plenty of speculation regarding how he would fare making the transition to mixed martial arts.

Watt has since shut down any notion of him fighting professionally in the UFC for one specific reason, via TMZ Sports:

It is safe to say that Texans fans can breathe a sigh of relief knowing one of their franchise players is not contemplating a career change. Although Watt's size and athleticism would make him an intriguing prospect, the idea of taking one too many shin kicks is more than enough to keep him in his lane.

Fortunately, Watt had 100 million reasons to never consider trying his hand at fighting over the last six years. He still has two years and $33 million left on his current contract, which is likely more than enough to prevent him from taking any unnecessary shin kicks in the near future.
