Former New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri has put together an illustrious career that will one day land him in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Vinatieri will extend that at least one more year as he plans to return for his 23rd NFL season.

Where he ends up is the big question now.

Vinatieri continues to prove himself as an ageless wonder, as he put together another effective season in 2017. He drilled 29 of his 34 field goal attempts, good for a 85.3 conversion percentage while making 22 out of 24 extra point attempts.

The 45-year-old has shown no wavering in his long-distance accuracy, nailing five of six attempts from 50 or more yards with a season-long of 54 yards. However, three out of his five misses did come on kicks from the 30-yard range.

Nonetheless, Vinatieri could be a highly-sought out kicker on the open market if he chooses to leave the Indianapolis Colts for another team. It has proven over the last couple of years, it is often times hard to find a reliable kicker to depend on throughout the course of a season.

Vinatieri certainly has the resume to back him up, as he is the only player to ever score at least 1,000 points with two different teams. He currently trails Hall of Famer Morten Andersen (565) for most field goals made in NFL history (559), and he's third in most field goals attempted (663) behind only Morten (709) and Gary Anderson (672).

He is also a four-time Super Bowl champion (three coming with the Patriots and one with the Colts) three-time Pro Bowler, and he has three First-Team All-Pro nods.

There are several NFL records to his name, such as the most postseason field goals made (56), most seasons with 100-plus points scored (19), most field goals made in the Super Bowl (seven), most consecutive field goals in NFL history (44), and most overtime field goals (12).

If Vinatieri is able to land another deal, it could be indicative of how much longer he wants to continue to play in the NFL.
