Veteran placekicker Adam Vinatieri is currently in the midst of an alarming rut. However, the 46-year-old special teamer is not ready to hang it up for the Indianapolis Colts, who sit at 1-1 due in part to Vinatieri's struggles.

After missing multiple field goals and several extra points across his first two games, it was speculated that Vinatieri might call it quits and move on after more than 20 seasons split between the Colts and New England Patriots. Ultimately deciding to remain with the Colts — at least for now — the seasoned place kicker is already looking ahead.

“Sometimes we all need a little time to decompress, I needed a little extra time,” Vinatieri recently said, via the Indianapolis Star. “Little time to clear my mind . . . I’m going to work this week to get the demons out and be clear headed on Sunday.”

In Week 1 against the Los Angeles Chargers, a game that the Colts lost in overtime, Vinatieri hit just one of his three field goal attempts while more notably missing two of his two extra-point attempts. In Week 2 against the rival Tennessee Titans, a narrow 19-17 win for the Colts in a game where the team's opponent missed a field goal of its own, Vinatieri didn't attempt a field goal and missed two of his three extra-point attempts.

It won't get any easier for the Colts in Week 3 either as Indianapolis will play host to the 1-1 Atlanta Falcons. It is also worth noting that the Colts will play in the team's home opener on Sunday against the Falcons.
