Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck has been dealing with a pesky calf injury in training camp, and his status is still up in the air.
Luck has actually been dealing with the issue since April, but he had a setback at the beginning of camp and missed all three practices this week. As for his timetable? There doesn't seem to be one yet:
“I don’t know,” Colts head coach Frank Reich said, according to Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star. “Haven’t even talked about it.”
It's not like Luck is incapacitated, though, as Reich adds that he has been doing some working out:
“He’s getting some good work,” Reich said. “First of all, some good rehab, and then he’s inside throwing with Tom House, that’s been really good. He’s put some of that on tape, so we have a chance to look at that, and that’s been really positive.”
But, of course, given that Luck doesn't appear to be all that close to returning, Colts fans are understandably going to be concerned about their signal-caller, especially because they have been down this road before.
Remember: Luck had shoulder surgery following the 2016 campaign and was supposed to be back at some point early on in the 2017 campaign, but multiple setbacks led to him being out for the entire season.
So, when Indianapolis fans hear about another “setback” when it pertains to their quarterback, bells are going to go off. Now, the good news is that it's not Luck's arm this time around, but that doesn't change the fact that this calf injury could still impact him between now and Week 1.
