Former Denver Broncos quarterback Chad Kelly is getting another look, at least for a weekend, when he participates in the Indianapolis Colts rookie minicamp, according to Geroge Bremer of CHNI Sports Indiana.
Chad Kelly is among a looong list of tryout players here today for the #Colts.

Kelly, the nephew of Hall of Famer Jim Kelly, was the Mr. Irrelevant pick from the 2017 NFL draft by the Broncos and there were high hopes that at some point he could develop into something. It looked like he was finally going to get his chance to start for the team when he was arrested and charged with first-degree criminal trespassing in October 2018.
The team released him and he hasn't caught on with a team since that point.
Article Continues BelowThe Colts don't really need another quarterback, but it's worth a look at Kelly if he has his head on straight and his legal issues behind him. The Colts have Andrew Luck as the starter and Jacoby Brissett has proven to be good as the backup and there is nothing that will change that going into the season barring an injury.
The Colts currently have Phillip Walker also on the roster who went to college at Temple and has spent time on the team's practice squad. Even if Kelly were to get a contract after the tryout this weekend, it's hard to imagine that he has much of a chance to make the roster, but things could happen.
If he makes it to training camp with the Colts, he could maybe sign on with their practice squad, or he could impress enough during the preseason that another team could sign him.
