With the start of the 2019 NFL season just around the corner, there is still no indication of a return from quarterback Andrew Luck. It seems head coach Frank Reich is leaving that decision up to Luck himself.

Luck is still recovering from a lingering calf/ankle injury that has largely kept him out of action this offseason. According to Mike Chappell of FOX59, Reich will let him decide when he is able to come back:

‘Love to give you guys an update.' Haven't met with doctors yet. Get update as soon as possible. ‘It is up to him.' Pain threshold is not to be ignored.

Luck was seen warming up before the Colts' Week 2 preseason matchup versus the Cleveland Browns. Although it is hardly an indicator of a potential return, it is still encouraging to see him get some light work in. It is safe to say that Reich will continue to take a cautious approach with his health heading into the 2019 NFL season.

Luck is certainly no stranger to extended offseason rehab. He was finally able to make his highly anticipated return from a lingering shoulder injury prior to the 2018 campaign. He dispelled any concerns about his health by throwing for 4,593 yards and 39 touchdowns on a career-high 639 pass attempts en route to Pro Bowl and Comeback Player of the Year honors.

Expectations are now as high as ever in Indianapolis heading into the regular season.

Regardless, Reich's primary concern will be to ensure he is 100 percent by the time it rolls around.
