Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck is dealing with a pesky calf injury that initially occurred back in April and flared up again in training camp, which has kept him sidelined for most of camp.
Of course, with the regular season looming, Colts fans are a bit concerned about whether or not their signal-caller will be ready, but head coach Frank Reich provided an encouraging update on Tuesday, saying that “things seem to be going well,” according to Zak Keefer of The Athletic.
This marks the second time in three years that Luck is experiencing a whole lot of uncertainty in training camp. Remember: back in 2017, Luck was coming off of shoulder surgery and was expected to be ready sometime early in the season, but multiple setbacks ended up knocking Luck out fpr the entire year.
Obviously, Luck's current issue is not nearly as severe, but that doesn't mean it won't conjure up thoughts of deja vu in Indianapolis.
Luck is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he threw for 4,593 yards, 39 touchdowns and 15 interceptions while completing 67.3 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 98.7 en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.
The Colts went on to make 10 games in spite of a 1-5 start, sneaking into the playoffs as a Wild Card in the AFC. They proceeded to upset the Houston Texans in the Wild Card Round before falling to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round the following week.
Indy has Super Bowl aspirations heading into 2019, but that will certainly depend on Luck's health.
